This area is famous for its Jewish quarter, which was one of the most important centres of the Jewish culture. Before World War II 30% of the Krakow population were the Jews. They contributed to creating a very unique spirit of the city in which they lived for centuries! You can’t leave Krakow without seeing the oldest preserved synagogue in Poland.
